5. Making the Most of your Day
Everybody has different ideas on the best day out, but here is a quick and
simple guide to getting the most out of your visit.
| a. |
Weather |
Check the weather and dress appropriately. Bring chairs or a blanket if
you wish. |
| b. |
Arrive early |
Arrive perhaps an hour/hour and a half before the published start time.
Gates are open from 11.00am.

| c. |
The Pits |
Explore the pits for a close up look at the cars (but please keep
children with you at all times - visibility is severely restricted in the
racing vehicles and tow trucks, especially when reversing; they will not see
you). |
| d. |
Shopping |
About 45 mins before the published start time, visit the shops where you
can buy videos/DVD's, photos, sweets, flags, caps, magazines and a whole
host of other goodies. Cars will start their practice laps about this time. |
| c. |
Get comfy |
About 30 mins before the meeting starts, pick where you are going to sit
and get comfy. A word of warning - the bend nearest to the pits can get very
crowded when the racing starts as it's a favourite with the mechanics. |
| d. |
Eat |
About 20 mins before the racing starts, get some hot food from one of
the various catering outlets. |
| e. |
Enjoy |
The racing action is fast and furious. Most meetings will usually last
for between three to five hours with ten separate races being the norm. |
| f. |
Drink |
When the racing ends, you can visit the Tavern Bar for a drink. |
| g. |
Home |
As you leave for home, keep the programme with you to choose your next
meeting to attend. |
Okay, hopefully this has helped you to make the most of your first visit to
Arena-Essex Raceway. Explore the rest of the site for full information on any of
the matters discussed here.
* - except for the Firecracker, when we suggest you arrive at least
1.5 hours before the published start time.
