THE FUTURE?

Happy New Year to you all and welcome to the 2008 racing season. Although we have received nothing official with regard to the future of racing here at Arena we do know that the Thurrock Development Corporation are preparing for Stage 2 of a Compulsory Purchase Order with regard to the site, therefore 2008 could well become our final season of racing.

Obviously we do not know this for sure but as we have always said we will try to keep you informed of any developments as soon as we know them ourselves.

UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR

Several drivers have got themselves into trouble during our off season while racing at away tracks mainly to do with threatening behaviour. This sort of behaviour is unacceptable whether you are racing at home or away and the ORC are determined to stamp it out. Remember, whether you give the hit or take the hit you should always shake the hand of your competitor, if you can’t do that then maybe you shouldn’t be racing at all, after all it is only a hobby and everyone has to work the next day.

SATURDAY PRACTICE

You are reminded that Saturday practice days will commence on the 2^nd February. Once again there is no increase on the prices of Saturday or midweek practice.

THURSDAY TAVERN NIGHTS

The Tavern will re-open on Thursday evenings again starting on 14^th February at 7pm. Licence renewals will be available and bookings for the Shakedown will be taken which is obviously the first meeting of the season for Unlimited Bangers and the awesome 2 Litre Saloon Stock Cars will also be on the bill starting at 2pm.

TEAM RACING

As the first Bank Holiday of 2008 is early this year it is important to get your Team forms in early as the first Team meeting is in Monday 24^th March. After much deliberation we have decided to keep the same format and rules as in the past, after all one iffy season in 20 years does not make it a bad format overnight.
