RUMOUR MILL IN FULL FLOW ( AGAIN )
The rumour circulating the rounds at the moment that this is Arena’s last season of racing is as far as I am concerned untrue. At this moment in time we have not signed anything voluntarily or indeed been forced to sign anything. I am working on a full fixture list for the 2008 season and unless something happens completely out the blue then we will be here next year. Mind you after the unsavoury and cowardly act of one individual on Banger World Final day it makes you think is it worth all the aggro, the actions of one man putting a total damper on the day.
A hectic September saw Arena host 3 World Finals. First up was the Brisca F2 World with a record 90 F2’s in attendance along with 27 Saloon Stock Cars and 24 Heritage Stock Cars, sadly the promised replica of Chicks F2 of the 1960’s failed to materialise due to time constrictions. It was a very long day not helped by the Official Brisca Technical Officer and Weighing Officers who helped contribute to the length of the meeting. Congratulations to 152 Mick Sworder who won his first World Title. As mentioned above the Banger World Final day was marred somewhat by a nasty incident during the day and after post race Scrutineering 10 Paul Whiteman was declared the winner, congratulations go to Paul and also to 923 Stephen Emerson from Ireland the winner of our third World Final of the month for the Lightning Rods. In hot pursuit of Emerson were our own Terry Shelvey 187 & Gary Greenland 267 with 2nd & 3rd respectively these three led the race from start to finish in an extremely fast and clean race and I think whoever got the jump at the start would have won, we would also like to thank Nigel Hepburn of Hepburn Engines for sponsoring the event.
September also saw the Group A’s have their Supreme Championship and a great race between 82 Lamby & 18 Smiffy saw the youngster beat the veteran to the Championship and consolidate his position at the top of the points chart.
The Rolling Thunder Show has added 2 extra dates to their schedule for November and they are the 10th & 24th. The Outlaws are invited for the 10th and the Ministox are invited for the 24th.
TROPHY PRESENTATION DINNER & DANCE
The Dinner & Dance this year is once again being held at the Dartford Hilton on Saturday the 24th November. All Trophy winners receive 2 free tickets to this event and since we have held it at this venue it has sold out with quite a few disappointed people who left it too late to purchase tickets so order your tickets now by using the form included in this newsletter.
