For anyone who is unaware of the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, they work for the Government out of the Deputy Prime Ministers office and therefore in my opinion have all the power that they need to go ahead with their plans whether we agree or not.

At the moment we have not signed anything but we feel that it is just a matter of time.  Having said that we still believe that we will have at least 2 more seasons of racing and maybe more but the fact remains that it looks like the Arena’s days are numbered and we will keep you informed and updated with any future news that of course will affect us all.

NEW ZEALAND  After a ten and a half hour flight to Hong Kong for an overnight stay the boys arrived in Auckland after another ten and a half hour flight from Hong Kong. They were then faced with a seven hour drive to their first base at Wanganui. The UK team of Bob Dunn, Shane Davies, Buster Godden, Lee Cleland and Woka took on a New Zealand team at Palmerston North and won easily with Shane taking the flag. The following weekend the UK team along with Europe (Boxer Jack, Matt Fuller, Jimmy Randall, James Ellis and Sean Dyer) took on teams from New Zealand, USA and Australia who recruited Joey Palmer into their team and promptly became the star of the show, winning one race for them and taking hits from Boxer and Jimmy and Matt, who nearly rolled him. Meanwhile English drivers mainly from Spedeworth were winning all the Jalopy (Rookie Bangers) races. Both the UK and Europe teams qualified easily for the Finals the following week in Auckland. The second night of the weekends racing was cut short by rain but the Promoter agreed to run a DD which was dominated by the English drivers and won by Boxer. After a few days off Quad Biking, white water rafting, a concrete luge  and a bungee jump (Joey) the boys arrived in Auckland and were disappointed with the facilities and arrangements and decided enough was enough and decided not to race. Lots of funny stories will be told by the boys during the forthcoming weeks but all in all they had an enjoyable time and look forward to going again sometime in the future but will need to pack some 30 plus sun block as they all suffered a bit from the fierce sunshine, especially Joeys ears which suffered even more pain when someone put salt on them!!!!

CARAVAN RACE RULES   Only touring type Caravans are allowed. All the stuff like cookers, showers, toilets, beds and tables etc must be removed before bringing your caravan to the Arena to race. Your caravan should be ready to race completely empty with the exception of the structural stiffeners and ideally removed from the raceway afterwards by you the driver.

Cars4Scrap.com is a website being set up to put people needing a scrap car collected from their home in touch with people like you who want cars for racing or breaking.  Over 2 million cars reach the end of their life in the UK every year and when our completed website opens for business in a few weeks its estimated that it will offer 30-50 plus cars every day all over the UK that will be either free to collect or a small offer needed to secure. To get the ball rolling we need people with car transporters, spec lifts and hiab lorries to join us so you can get in at the start of this operation by going to www.cars4scrap.com and registering as a collection agent.
