NEW BROOM(s) SWEEPS INTO ARENA!
Dear Driver & Staff Member
Over the last 18 months or so the stress and pressures
of work and the continuous threat of closure has finally taken its toll on
Tony Woodroffe and he has decided to go in to semi-retirement from running
the day to day business of Arena Essex and PRI.
Hopefully by the start of the season, if everything
goes to plan, running the Arena complex as a whole will be Tonys sister
Lesley Wootton who has already been heavily involved in the negotiations
with the Thames Gateway people and various others with regards to the
stadium site, and she will be ably assisted as usual by Paula McQuade who
many of you may know, at least by voice as she has worked here for many many
years and knows the business inside out.
On the racing side of things and taking over the actual
running of the meetings, including all racing decisions, conduct of drivers,
home and away, and of course all disciplinary measures and scrutineering
decisions will be the new management committee of TEAM ARENA consisting of
Dave Edwards and Steve Davies. These well known drivers have years of
experience and I am sure are already well known to most, if not all of you
drivers out there.
Team Arena are already influencing the fixture list
with the emphasis on bringing the fun back to racing, especially in the
Bangers. The problems of last season of bullying and threatening behaviour
will not be tolerated whatsoever.
We all hope that this new start to the 2009 season will
see Arena get back to what it was so that EVERYONE no matter who they are
can come back and enjoy their racing without having to face the threat of
bullying or violence. All decisions will be fair and just.
There will be a staff meeting held at the Raceway
Tavern on Tuesday 20th January at 7.30. This will be for ALL
staff members and officials.
A drivers AGM will be held on Thursday 22nd
January at 7.30 and this will be open to ALL drivers in all formulas. This
will also be in the Raceway Tavern.
Dave and Steve will be both at the Oval Racing Expo
with Licence Forms and ready and willing to answer any of your questions.
