ELECTRONIC LAP SCORING
After a successful season of running F2 Stock Cars and 2Litre Saloons on
electronic lap scoring equipment it has been decided at the ORC that
Lightning Rods, Stock Rods & Ministox will now go on transponders for the
2006 season, the down side to this for you the driver is the one-off cost of
buying the transponders. The ORC are negotiating with AMB, the suppliers,
and hopefully agree a decent price, we think it will be somewhere between
£160 - £200 this will be unfortunately ( I think ) on top of your licence
fee which has not changed at £60 ( £45 for Ministox ). Once you have
purchased your transponder it can be transferred to another formula or sold
on, a £25 admin fee will be payable to change details on the database. All
ORC tracks have purchased and installed all the necessary equipment at a
cost of around £5000 and it works very well. After every meeting the data is
downloaded onto www.mylaps.com where you can log on and check lap charts lap
speed etc etc. As a result of this we are not renewing Minis or Lightning
Rod licences until we get the cost of the transponders. |

RULES AND
INFRINGEMENTS
Following the all major
championships, the winner and placed cars are extensively checked for rule
infringements (this is standard practice for all formulas at Arena Essex).
Depending upon the formula, items such as suspension, carburetors, manifold
and restrictor plates are all checked, engines are sealed and marked for
future checks, and we WILL know if they have been tampered with.
For any formula at any meeting, if somebody believes a car is in any way
illegal, they are perfectly entitled to put up £50 to have something checked
by the scrutineers.
Not only do all registered drivers have a copy of the rules and regulations,
we now publish full copies of these on the website so that drivers and fans
alike can have access to them.
Indeed, we pride ourselves at Arena Essex on the quality of car preparation,
and the thoroughness of scrutineering that precedes each race, (and
post-race scrutineering as mentioned earlier).
These rules and regulations have been developed over the last thirty years
to ensure competitive and safe racing for all and we will continue to
maintain the very high standards that makes PRI the leading promoter in the
UK. |

|
MINISTOX
At Arena Essex, we have
65 licensed drivers and regularly attract 45 - 50 cars every meeting. The
racing is close and competitive to provide maximum enjoyment to drivers and
crowds alike.
This formula continues to grow in popularity, providing an opportunity to
take to the track at an early age, and the crowd are rewarded with examples
of some excellent driving that leave many people envious. |

After a couple of accidents this season when the
drivers concerned have bitten their tongues it has been suggested they
should wear a gum shield, now although this is not compulsory we do believe
it is a good idea, a lot of schools these days ( the ones who still allow
sports to be played ) already insist on gum shields for sports such as rugby
and they are not expensive or difficult to obtain, we recommend you try it |
